Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out what the experiences of daycare center directors in rural areas are. For this purpose, I analyzed data from interviews with three directors of daycare centers located in Eup and Myeon, Jeollanam-do. The difficulties experienced by the directors of rural daycare centers are as follows: ‘Inefficient vehicle operation’, ‘Relationship with multicultural families accompanied by indifference and poor communication’, ‘Difficulties in understanding and applying regional characteristics’, ‘No children’, ‘Unstable teacher placement’. In addition, their efforts were revealed as 'responding to local needs', 'saving the community and daycare center together', 'flexibly responding to change', and 'using local programs and policies'. In this study, the difficulties and efforts of the heads of daycare centers in rural areas can be examined from their experiences, so that it is possible to understand them. And at the same time confirm that a policy should be prepared that takes into account regional specificity rather than a simple numerical comparison with other regions. In addition, it is suggested that the rights of infants and young children should be considered in terms of policy discovery.
