통합교육의 새로운 패러다임으로서의 유니버셜 디자인철학의 고찰

초록

우리나라의 통합교육은 약 30여 년이라는 짧지 않은 역사를 가지고 있다. 그동안 많은 연구들이 통합교육의 당위성과 가치를 주장하고 실현 가능성을 증명했으며 통합교육의 실제를 긍정적으로 검토하며 특수교육이 나가야할 방향임을 강조하고 있는 것이 사실이다. 그러나 통합교육은 아직까지 이론과 실제 사이에 좁히지 못하는 차이를 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 “모든 사람들을 위한 디자인”이라는 철학을 지니고 있는 유니버셜 디자인의 철학을 바탕으로 개인의 다양성을 존중하고 차이를 수용하는 통합교육의 인간주의 패러다임의 한계를 제시하고, 유니버셜 디자인 철학에 의한 통합교육의 실현 가능성을 확인하는데 중점을 두었다.

Abstract

The inclusion in korea has a considerable history about 30 years. Many researches has insisted propriety and worthy and has proved the possibility of realization. Also examined the practice of inclusion in a positive view and emphasized the direction of special education. The inclusion in korea has a considerable history about 30 years. However the inclusion has still some problem not to narrow down the difference between theory and practice. In this study, universal design based on the philosophy, "the design for all" come to interpret humanism paradigm of inclusion which can respect the diversity of individuals and accept the difference of it, and put emphasis on possibility of realization for the inclusion. It has some significant meaning that paradigm of humanism took an inclusion to disability students who took separate-education by lay and socially. However, the limitation of barrier-free which emphasis on the circumstance of students with disability didn't solve the disadvantage of students without disability who take inclusion. As the result of it, inclusion has caused trouble between equality and superiority. To solve the limitation of it, the universal design's philosophy risen in architecture expanded to the aspect of education and became a universal design for learning(UDL). In conclusion, the converting of consciousness, that students without disability including the students with disability can access to study and receive an equal education, will show the possibility of realization for the detail inclusion and will be a new paradigm in making contribution to full inclusion.
