이 연구는 저시력 학생의 학교생활 적응을 위한 학교의 지원 실태와 요구를 물리적 환경 조성과 심리사회적 지원 두 가지 측면에서 조사하여 개선 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국의 특수학교와 일반학교에서 저시력 학생을 지도하고 있는 특수교사 및 일반교사 262명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 일선 교사들은 조명 및 눈부심, 색상 대비, 높낮이 조절 책상 및 독서대, 교실 자리배치, 교내 게시물 및 표지판 모든 영역에 있어 저시력 학생을 고려한 물리적 환경의 조성이 부족한 것으로 인식하였다. 둘째, 일선 교사들은 저시력 학생이 장애로 인한 위축감, 사회적 기술 부족, 또래 문화 활동의 참여 배체 등으로 인해 학교에서의 사회적 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 학교 차원의 심리사회적 지원이 부족한 것으로 인식하였다. 따라서 향후 교육 당국은 저시력 학생의 학교생활 적응을 돕기 위한 학교의 물리적 환경 조성과 심리사회적 지원 영역에 있어 행재정적 지원과 전문 프로그램 운영을 확대해 나가야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide a support plan to help the adjustment to school life by investigating the support conditions for adjusting to school life of low vision students. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 262 teachers who are teaching students with low vision in special and general schools nationwide. the results are as follow: First, in the school field, the support of the physical environment was not properly implemented in the overall areas of lighting and glare, high contrast, desks and reading tables, classroom seating, and school signs. Second, the school teachers recognized that low vision students have considerable difficulty in adapting a school life. there were various reasons such as psychological atrophy due to disability, lack of social skills, and reduction of opportunities to participate in peer cultural activities. Therefore, educational authorities should provide policy and program support in two respects of the physical environment and psychosocial support to help low vision students to adapt to school life.
