Abstract
Frequentist statistics on Korean CBM research has been used as a main statistical method to calculate the CBM slope. However, frequentist statistics is also a statistical theory that has been criticized for many years in the humanities and social sciences. In this paper, we propose Bayesian statistics as an alternative to frequentist statistics to analyze CBM slopes. To examine the usefulness of Bayesian statistics, we compare the results of Bayesian and frequentist statistics using real reading CBM data. According to the results from this study, the advantages of using Bayesian statistics in CBM slope studies include the ability to directly verify the researcher's research hypothesis, the ability to prevent the problem of overfitting the collected data, and the ability to express the uncertainty of the slope parameter value as a posterior distribution.
