본 연구는 문화유산으로서 해미읍성의 가치를 세 가지 역사적 층위로 이해하고자 한다. 해미읍성의 역사에서 확인가능한 층위는 조건과 환경, 제도와 운영자, 문화유산의 관점이다. 조건과 환경은 역사지리, 자연 지형, 군사적 관점으로나눌 수 있다. 제도와 운영자는 해미현감, 좌영장, 토포사와 같은 인물의 관점에서 본 것이다. 문화유산의 관점은 읍성과읍성에 위치한 관청에 대한 서술이다. 해미읍성의 역사적 층위 중에서 어느 부분에 초점을 둘 것인가에 대해서는 현대사회의 합의와 관련이 있다. 우리는 아직도 해미읍성이 가진 역사적 가치를 이해하고 있지 못하고 있을 수 있다. 해미읍성의 문화유산적 가치가 시대마다 다르게 읽혀지는 이유이기도 하다.
Abstract
This study examines the historical layers of Haemi-eupseong from three perspectives. This refer to the perspectives of conditions and environment, system and operation, and cultural heritage. Conditions and environment refer to historical geography, natural terrain, and military perspectives, and characterize the location where Haemi Fortress is located. System and operation are the aspects of the person who operated Haemi-eupseong Fortress, and refer to the meaning of the Haemi County Magistrate and the concurrent positions he held. The perspective of cultural heritage explains the name of the town and the characteristics of the government offices in the town. The historical layers of Haemi Fortress ultimately depend on which part is emphasized and interpreted, and this is also a characteristic of how modern society views cultural heritage. This is why the cultural heritage value of Haemi-eupseong is read differently in each era.
