지구화 시대 탈근대 담론의 가장 주요한 특성은 국민국가․민족․인종․젠더 등의 구획, 진․선․미의 분화, 인문과학․사회과학․자연과학의 분리 등을 포괄하는 모든 근대적 경계에 대한 근본적 성찰을 촉구하는 데 있다. 이러한 인식의 전환은 평화학의 21세기적 발전을 지향하는 ‘평화인문학’의 문제의식에도 반영되어 있다. 인간 사고와 활동 전반, 인류의 역사적 경험과 문화 전체를 포괄해 평화의 문명론적 가치를 보다 근원적인 차원에서 탐색하고자 하는 평화인문학은 개별분과로서의 인문학이나, 편협한 의미의 인문학 중심주의와 무관하다. 그 본질은 사회과학, 인문학 등의 고립적 경계를 넘어서는 통합학문으로서의 평화학, 특히 지구화 시대의 중층화된 복합갈등에 대한 다차원적 접근 속에 그 이론적, 실천적 해결방안을 제안하고 이를 통해 평화를 실현하고자 하는 노력에 필수적으로 요구되는 융합적 시각을 의미한다. 이런 문제의식에서 이 글은 평화인문학의 가능성과 그 의미를 평화와 문화를 키워드로 살펴보았다. 서론에서는 평화학과 평화인문학의 관계 설정 속에 평화와 문화를 화두로 삼은 논문의 문제의식을 제시하였다. 이어 본론을 통해 평화와 문화의 일반적 관계를 예술문화를 중심으로 살펴보고, 평화연구와 문화연구의 이론적 연관성을 고찰한 후, 마지막으로 평화문화의 실천적 의미를 <유네스코 평화문화 프로그램>의 검토를 통해 분석하고 앞서의 논의와 결합해 그 의미를 밝혔다.
Abstract
The main characteristics of postmodern discourses in the era of globalization are based on the fundamental reflection upon all kinds of modern demarcations (nation-state, race, gender, etc.) and violence by them. It has generated an epistemological change and the problematics of Humanities for Peace as a kind of proposal for the development of peace studies in twenty first century started from this turn. Humanities for Peace, which pursuits to investigate the whole civilizational values of peace in the fundamental level, including all kinds of human thoughts, activities and historio- cultural experiences, is not related to the humanities as a discipline, nor to narrow humanities- centrism. Its essence lays in the organic and synthetic perspectives, which are indispensible for the interdisciplinary nature of peace studies, trying to bring about peace in reality through the profounder understanding of multifaceted and diversified contemporary configurative conflicts. From this point of view this article examines the possibility of development of peace studies with the focus on two concepts ‘peace’ and ‘culture.’ In the main text this work studies general relations between peace and culture (especially artistic culture) and investigates the theoretical relationships between peace studies and cultural studies. Finally in conclusion this work examines the meaning of discussions in the main text, combining them with analysis of the practical cultural activity for peace(<UNESCO Culture of Peace Program>).
