Abstract
This article analyzes, from a cultural-critical perspective, how the popularization of Korean feminism since 2015 has shifted from mobilizations based on anonymity and identification toward a politics of contemporaneity, as exemplified by the Yoon Suk- Yeol Resignation Protest. Through social media, online petitions, and inter-site networks, women who had previously built “channels” of connection came to embody those very channels themselves, expanding their activities and organizing new forms of site-based gatherings. In contrast, the absence of channels among men in their twenties and thirties reveals a sense of collapse in the masculinized universal order, intertwined with the experience of asset-based inequality. Combined with investment discourse, this condition tends to displace collective practice into an individualized ethics of survival, resentment toward others, and a victimized sense of self. From the perspective of social reproduction, this study proposes a new narrative that integrates the axes of violence, labor, and accumulation. When gendered violence is repositioned not as a subordinate issue to labor but as a central analytic of the system, the convergence around labor can transform into a politics that broadens the scope of the universal. In conclusion, the gendered universal is not an abstraction imposed from above but a practical language formed from below—one that recognizes, translates, and composes difference—and the Yoon Suk-Yeol Resignation Square functioned as a social laboratory for its reconfiguration.
