정치 연설은 국가 이미지 제고를 위한 중요한 통로로 주목받아 왔다. 본 논문은 일본 기시다 후미오（岸田文雄） 전 총리의 재임 중 아프리카 원조에 관한 일련의 연설을 분석 대상으로 삼아, 기시다 전 총리가 구축한 '아프리카 원조'에 담긴 일본의 국가 이미지를 살펴보고, 그가 사용한 수사（修辞）학적 전략을 탐구했다. 구체적인 연구 방법에 있어서, 본 논문에서는 먼저 디지털 마이닝 소프트웨어 KH Coder3.0을 활용하여, 연설에 나타난 외교 담론의 특징을 고빈도 명사와 고빈도 연어 배열, 고빈도 단어 공기어 네트워크 간의 관계 측면에서 분석함으로써 연설에 구축된 일본 국가 이미지를 발굴했다. 그리고 아리스토텔레스의 수사학 이론을 분석 틀로 삼아 연설문에서 사용된 수사학적 전략을 고찰했다. 연구 결과, 기시다 전 총리의 아프리카 원조 연설에서 가장 많이 사용된 수사적 전략은 ‘논증’ 을 지칭하는 ‘로고’（logos）이고, 그 다음이 ‘성격’을 지칭하는 ‘에토스’（ethos）이며, ‘감정’을 지칭하는 ‘파토스’（pathos） 는 상대적으로 적게 사용된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 수사적 전략이 결합되어 아프리카 원조에서의 '믿을 만한' '국제적 책임성을 지닌' '아프리카 파트너'라는 일본의 국가 이미지를 부각시켰다.
Abstract
Political speeches, which have long been regarded as an important means of shaping a country's image, have always been closely watched. This paper takes the series of speeches on aid to Africa made by former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during his tenure as an analysis object, examining the Japanese national image constructed in the speeches on aid to Africa by former Prime Minister Kishida exploring the rhetorical strategies used. In terms of specific research methods, this paper first uses the digital mining software KH Coder3.0 to mine the content of the speeches, analyzing the diplomatic discourse features from the high-frequency nouns and high-frequency collocations, and the high-frequency word co-occurrence network relationships to mine the Japanese national image constructed in the speeches on aid to Africa. Secondly, this paper uses Aristotle's three major rhetorical theories as an analytic framework to examine the rhetorical strategies used in the speeches. The research findings show that the most frequently used rhetorical strategy in Fumio Kishida's series of speeches on aid to Africa is logos, followed by ethos, while pathos is relatively less used. By weaving together, the use of these rhetorical strategies, a national image of "trustworthy," "taking on international responsibilities," and "African partners" was constructed in Japan's aid to Africa.
