초록

The purpose of the paper is to explore how Steph Cha tries to relocate Latasha Harlins as a victimized subject in her Your House Will Pay. Suggesting Jung-Ja Han who is represented as Du Soon Ja and Ava Matthews as Latasha, Cha asks readers to see how they are unethically defined as victims within the economic and racial circumstances presented. Grace Park, Jung-Ja’s daughter, tracks down the truth of her mother’s past in a way to see how Jung-Ja views herself as real victim in the event. However, when Grace is faced with two uncompromising moments that put her in a position as both a victim’s and murderer’s daughter as a result of her mother’s death, she realizes that it is ethically wrong to categorize her mother as a true victim in a white-centered American society by ignoring the death of Ava. Grace reveals that the true victim is Latasha who has suffered from racism both in the white and Korean immigrant communities.
