초록

Metaphors have a profound impact on our thinking, behavior, and communication. They help us understand complex topics, influence others, and even shape important aspects of society like social issues and consumer spending patterns. Despite their significance, we often overlook the power of metaphors. By reflecting underlying conceptual structures, metaphors actively shape our cognitive processes. Aligned with cognitive linguistic theory, which posits that metaphors structure our conceptual frameworks and impact our thoughts and behaviors, this study delves into the extensive use of metaphors in everyday life. It scrutinizes how their pervasive presence facilitates communication in unexpected ways, influencing not only our cognition and behavior but also extending to realms such as consumer behavior, psychological perception, memory, and attention.
