A Study on Fitness Standard Sizing Systems for Children’s Wear in the United States and South Korea

본 연구는 미국과 한국의 아동복 치수에 대한 사이즈체계 적합성에 관한 연구로 아동복업계가 지니고 있는 사이즈체계의 문제점을 인식하고 한국과 미국 의류업계에서 사용하는 아동복 표준 사이즈 체계가 현재 아동복을 제작하는데 적합한 것인지를 인식하는 것에 있다. 아동복은 한국과 미국 간 무역이 빈번하게 이루어지고 있음으로, 국가별 표준사이즈 규격이 달라서 발생하는 문제를 방지하기 위해서 현재 미국과 한국의 아동복 사이즈 체계를 분석하며 현재 아동신체치수와 표준사이즈 규격을 비교하여 문제점을 밝히고자 하였다. 따라서 본 논문의 연구방법으로 아동복 현황과 한국과 미국의 사이즈 체계에 대한 이론적 연구를 선행하고, 부모에게 아동복의 맞음새에 대한 문제점을 설문조사하였으며, 실증적 연구로 아동의 신체를 계측하여 실제 아동의 신체치수와 아동복 표준사이즈 규격이 적합한지를 비교하였다. 분석방법으로 기술통계치와 T-test를 사용하여 미국 표준 ASTM 계측치와 비교 분석하였다. 아동의 신체계측은 미국의 텍사스 주에 소재하는 보육센터 어린이를 대상으로 신체계측하고 그중 실제 사용가능한 40명의 아동 치수 자료를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 70.6%의 부모들은 아동에게 맞는 옷을 찾기 어려움이 있음을 밝혔으며, 특히 3∼4세 아동의 경우 적당한 사이즈가 없음으로 나타났다. 아동의 신체적 특성은 연령별로 남녀 아동에게 차이가 있었으며, 현재 아동의 신체 치수와 표준치수규격은 체중, 엉덩이둘레, 팔둘레, 상완, 팔꿈치 둘레, 발목둘레, 총바지길이, 밑위길이, 머리둘레, 발목높이, 어깨너비, 팔길이, 암홀깊이, 발길이, 머리와 목길이등에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과인 실제 아동신체치수가 한국과 미국 수출입 아동복 업체의 표준 사이즈체계 개발에 반영되어지길 제안한다.
