본고는 갈라 4,21-31 안에 ‘사실에 근거한 우의적 해석’이 발견된다는 전제에서 출발한다. 이를 입증하기 위해 하가르와 사라 이야기를 주로 다루는4,22-27을 연구 본문으로 설정한다. 그리고 구약성경 속 하가르와 사라 이야기와 신약성경 편지의 수신자인 갈라티아인들 사이 ‘상황의 유사성’은 무엇인지에 초점을 맞추어 연구를 진행한다. 바오로가 회심 전까지 깊이 뿌리내리고 있던 신앙의 유산인 고대 유다교 전통의 다양한 증언들은 하가르와 사라 이야기를 어떻게 풀어내는가? 이방인의 사도는 갈라티아의 이방계 그리스도인들의 현재 상황을 구약성경 이야기 속 상황에 어떻게 빗대어 논증하는가? 갈라티아인들을 효과적으로 설득하기 위한 수사학적 장치는 어떤 일관성이 발견되며, 어떤 신학 사상으로 종합되는가? 이 연구는 ‘하가르에 대한 사라의 우위성’, ‘하가르의 종살이와 사라의 자유’, ‘하가르와 사라 사이지위의 전복’이라는 세 가지 상황의 유사성을 중심으로 논증한다. 바오로는갈라티아인들이 ‘그리스도에 대한 믿음을 통한 의로움의 길’ 안에서 참된 자유를 향유하도록 초대한다는 것이 본고의 결론이다.
Abstract
This article starts on the premise that “Factual Allegory” is found within Gal 4:21-31. To prove this, 4:22-27, which mainly deals with the story of Hagar and Sarah, is set as the body of the study. And the study focuses on what is the “Analogy of Situations” between the story of Hagar and Sarah in the OT and the Galatians, the recipients of the letter in the NT. How do the various testimonies of the Ancient Jewish Tradition, a heritage of faith that Paul had deeply rooted until his conversion, unravel the story of Hagar and Sarah? How does the Apostle of the Gentiles compare the present situation of the Gentile Christians in Galatia to the situation in the OT story? What consistency is found in the rhetorical device to effectively persuade the Galatians, and what theological thought is synthesized? This study argues around the similarities of three situations: ‘the superiority of Sarah over Hagar’, ‘Hagar’s slavery and Sarah’s freedom’, and ‘subversion of status between Hagar and Sarah’. The conclusion of this paper is that Paul invites Galatians to live true freedom within the “way of righteousness through faith in Christ.”
