갈라 4,29의 ‘박해’: 고대 유다교 전통에 비추어 본 이사악과 이스마엘의 관계를 중심으로

초록

본고는 갈라 4,29에서 “육에 따라 태어난 아들이 성령에 따라 태어난 아들을 ‘박해’”했다는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지 탐구하는 것을 연구 목표로 삼았다. 이를 위해 고대 유다교 전통 속 다양한 증언들로부터 이사악과 이스마엘의 관계성을 두 가지로 규합했다. 이사악과 이스마엘의 ‘양립불가’와 이들사이 상속에 관한 ‘분쟁’이라는 특징은 갈라티아서 연구 본문에서 어떻게 활용되었을까? 첫째, 성령과 육의 ‘양립불가’는 ‘율법에 따른 행위’와 ‘그리스도에 대한 믿음’이 양립할 수 없음을 밝혀준다. 둘째, 의로움에 관한 ‘분쟁’ 은 수신자들이 ‘그리스도에 대한 믿음’을 회복하도록 그들이 이사악처럼 ‘약속의 자녀(4,28)’, ‘성령에 따라 태어난 아들(4,29)’, ‘자유의 몸인 부인의 자녀(4,31)’라는 사실을 재확인한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore what it means in Gal 4:29 that “he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit”. For this purpose, the relationship between Isaac and Ishmael was gathered into two points from various testimonies in Ancient Jewish Tradition. How were the characteristics of ‘incompatibility’ between Isaac and Ishmael and the ‘dispute’ regarding inheritance between them utilized in the text of Galatians? First, the ‘incompatibility’ between the Holy Spirit and the Flesh reveals that ‘works of the Law’ and ‘faith in Christ’ are incompatible. Second, to restore the recipients’ ‘faith in Christ’ the ‘dispute’ about righteousness reaffirms the fact that, like Isaac, they were ‘children of promise(4:28)’, ‘sons born according to the Spirit(4:29)’ and ‘children of the free woman(4:31)’.
