에이즈상담센터 운영 현황 분석: 낙인으로 인한 HIV 감염인의 심리적 고통과 상담 성과를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 에이즈상담센터의 운영 현황, HIV 감염인의 사회적 낙인과 심리적 고통 간의 관계, 제공된 상담 서비스의 성과를 살펴보고 개선 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 에이즈상담센터는 국내 유일의 HIV/AIDS 전문 상담 기관으로, HIV 감염인 및 관련 주변인들을 대상으로 상담 서비스를 제공해온 보건복지부 및 질병관리청 산하의 기관이다. 본 연구에서는 센터 현황 및 운영성과를 살펴보기 위해서 이용자 현황 자료를 바탕으로 전화 상담, 인터넷 상담, 포탈 지식인 상담, SNS 상담, 개인 상담의 다섯 가지 상담 서비스의 현황, 요구 및 성과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 상담 서비스 이용자는 점진적으로 증가했으나, HIV에 대한 사회적 낙인으로 인하여 HIV 감염인의 심리적 고통이 여전히 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 상담 서비스에 대한 성과로는 전체적으로 우울, 불안, 에이즈 포비아 항목에서 유의한 정적 변화를 나타냈다. 그러나 감염 여부로 집단을 나눠 살펴보았을 때, HIV 감염인 집단 그룹이 비감염인 집단에 비해서 그 효과가 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 상담 서비스 제공 시 HIV 감염인의 특수한 요구에 대해서 더 고려해야 할 부분들에 대한 시사점을 제공하였다.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the operational status of the AIDS Counseling Center, focusing on the relationship between social stigma and psychological distress among People Living with HIV (PLHIV), evaluating the outcomes of counseling services, and to propose potential improvements. The AIDS Counseling Center, the only specialized HIV/AIDS counseling institution in South Korea, operates under the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, offering support to PLHIV and their close contacts. This study examined the status, needs, and outcomes of five types of counseling services—telephone counseling, internet counseling, bulletin board counseling on portal site, SNS counseling, and individual counseling—based on user status data. The findings indicated that the number of counseling service users gradually increased, but the psychological distress of PLHIV is still significant due to the social stigma. Counseling services generally resulted in significant positive changes in depression, anxiety, and AIDS-related phobia scores. Nevertheless, when analyzed by infection status, the effect size was notably lower in the PLHIV group compared to the non-PLHIV group. Based on the results, implications for areas that should be further considered the unique psychological needs of PLHIV when providing counseling services were suggested.
