초록
This research shows how international economic cooperation of Northeast Asian countries has evolved through the plans of economic development around Tumen River area from the UNDP’s proposition of the Tumen River Area Development Programme(TRADP) in 1991 to the current China’s plan of the “Chang-Ji-Tu” Development and Opening-up Pilot Area (CJT). Based on the theoretical debates between structural realism and liberal institutionalism, the research attempts to figure out what factors have made the countries sometimes cooperate and sometimes conflict with each other in the process of implementation of the plans. Then, the author particularly focuses on the meanings of the CJT to ChinadomesticpoliticsandexaminestheleadershipofChinaintheregionthroughtheSino-DPRKrelationship,whichisakeypointoftheregionalintergovernmentaleconomiccooperation. Finally by introducing the related countries’, including the U.S., goals as well as the loss and gains of the plans, this research tries to explain the overall environment of the international economic cooperation in Northeast Asia in these days.
