본 연구의 목적은 웹 데이터베이스를 활용하여 효율적인 자연지리 수업을 전개할 수 있는 방법을 제시양한 멀티미디어 자료가 요구된다. 웹상에는 엄청난 자료의 량이 존재하지만 정말로 필요로 하는 자료를 검색하고 교육적 활용을 위해선 많은 시간과 번거로움을 요한다. 하지만 교육적으로 이러한 자료를 어떻게 선정하고 어떻게 수집하고 어떻게 활용할 것인가가 중요하다. 멀티미디어 데이터베이스의 구축과정은 크게 기획, 설계, 구현,종류를 분류하여 주요 자료를 선정하고 이의 자료들을 온라인과 오프라인 상에서 다양한 방법으로 수집하고 자료를 코딩한다. 웹 데이터베이스화된 자료는 자료의 검색과 배열을 통하여 효율적으로 활용할 수 있다. 또한 필요에따라 수정할 수 있는 가변적 특성과 자료의 갱신이 효율적이다. 웹 테이터베이스의 활용을 통해 수준별 수업과능하여 가정에서 과제학습을 위한 사이버 수업과 면대면 교실수업의 장점을 살 릴 수 있 는 수업모형을 구축할 수있다. 교사에게는 웹 데이터베이스를 구현을 웹 슬라이드화하여 학생들에게 바로 자료를 제시할 수 있어 교과교실이 아니라도 자료제시가 수월하다. 이런 웹 데이터베이스 구축은 개인보다는 국가적, 지역적 규모에서 구축하는것이 효과적이다.
Abstract
The goal of this research is to propose a means of effective physical geography education by using web-based databases. Geography studies space relationship, thus, it necessarily deals with a lot of multimedia data sets relatedwith spatial information such as pictures, images, charts, and maps. Although a plenty of such data are available on theweb, obtaining the appropriate data for specific educational purposes demands quite a time and money. However, it isimperative to perform these time-consuming research to effectively utilize those web-based multimedia data. Establishinga multimedia database can be achieved by four step process including planning, designing ,implementing, and managingand evaluation. First of all, it needs to define what is needed after an careful analysis of educational process. Then, thedata are collected from on- and off-line sources, systematically classified, and input into a computer system. The resultantdata sets in the databases can now be searched and appropriately arranged for specific educational purposes. In addition,the data can be updated and modified according to changing environments. Because a variety of data sets in the databases can be retrieved and customized to address specific needs which are different for individual students, ICT-basedclasses are possible. Furthermore, learners can also be motivated to utilize the data bases for their homework no matterwhere they are. On the other hand, for an in-class use of the databases, teachers can present the data to the students thedatabases for geography education should be established as early as possible by government-funded program for effective teaching in the IT-powered country like ours.
