전라북도 곡성군 입면 지역의 매월천 유역을 중심으로 화강암질 편마암으로 이루어진 산지와 흑운모 편암, 백운모 편암, 각섬석 편암 상에 산록면이 탁월하게 발달되어 있다. 우리나라에 분포하고 있는 대부분의 분지 는 화강암 지역에 발달하여 있다. 그러나 본 연구지역은 비(非) 화강암 지역에 분포하고 있으므로, 화강암이 아닌 다른 암석지역에서 분지는 어떻게 발단하는지 살펴보고자 한다. 연구의 주요 목적은 분지의 산록을 따라 발달한 완만한 사면과 고립구릉의 지형적 특징을 통하여, 본 지역의 지형이 어떠한 발달과정을 거쳐 현재와 같은 형태를 이루었는가를 밝히는 데 있다. 본 지역의 산록에 발달한 사면은 크게 세 유형으로 구분할 수 있다. 하나는 배후산지 바로 아래의 산정부와 분 지의 말단부에 비고가 높은 구릉들이다. 이의 배면에는 퇴적물이 피복되어 있지 않아 현재는 대부분 개석되어 고 립구릉 형태로 남아 있는 상태이다. 또 다른 하나는 이보다 낮은 면에 나타나는 산록면으로 기반침식면 위에 퇴적 물이 엷게 덮여 있는 산록이다. 이것은 지형면 고도에 따라 둘로 나누어서 중위면과 하위면으로 구분한다. 상위면 보다 한 단 아래에 나타나는 중위면과 하위면은 구 펑탄면인 상위면이 파괴되면서 형성된 것으로 생각된다. 본 지역의 지형형성과정은 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 이루어진 것으로, 배후산지와 산록면의 지질적인 차에 의해서 차 별적인 풍화가 이루어졌고, 이에 따른 차별적인 침식에 의해 오늘날과 같은 U자형의 분지을 형성한 것으로 보인 다. 이와 같이 구성 암석이 화강암이 아닌 편암일지라도 두 암석사이의 암질 차는 존재하였고, 이에 따른 풍화의 차이로 인한 차별적인 침식에 의해 현재와 같은 지형이 이루어진 것으로 해석된다.
Abstract
It consist of granite gneiss at the mountains and muscutive schists, biotite schists, horrnblende schists at the piedmont in the Dong-Ak Mt., Gok-seong Gun. The main Purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the topographic features and to find out the process of geomorphic development. The investigation of piedmont performed the gentle slope along Masanbong to Hyeongiebong. The piedmont can be classified into two types. The one is the upper surface that the hill-shaped gentle slope without any deposits on its bedrock surface. This is the most old surface, probably formed before the past glacial period. The other one is flat gentle slopes covered thinly with deposits on its bedrock erosion surface. It can divided into the middle surface and the lower surface according to the height of geomorphic surface. It can interpreted that was formed from the last interglacial age through the last glacial after the upper slope was formed. In conclusion, geomorphic processes of on Piedmont Gentle Slopes in the Dong-Ak Mt. is different erosion due to differentiation of lithological hardness.
