진도 관매도의 지형경관과 삶의 지속성 이해

관매도는 다도해 해상 국립공원에 위치하고 있으며 조도면 하조도 남단에 있는 섬으로 산지와 해안을 무대로 하고 있다. 본 연구는 섬의 원격성으로 파괴되지 않은 자연환경을 유지하고 있다는 점에서 다양하고 치밀한 지형경관의 지형지적 이해를 통해서 관매도가 어떻게 지형적－사회적－문화적으로 재구성되고 있는가를 살펴보는 것이다. 관매도의 자연은 인간의 점유에 의해 사회적·문화적으로 재구성되면서 관매도의 풍경이 되어 가고 있다. 우리가 부르는 관매도라는 지명이 주는 의미에서 출발하여 지명의 속성과 자연환경과의 관계를 문헌과 고지도를 통해서 고찰한 결과 관매도는 일제이후에 등장한 지명이고, 그 이전에는 대체로 볼매(乶邁)섬으로 불렸다는 점을 확인할 수 있었고 볼매가 이후에 볼 관(觀) 매화 매(梅)로 차자표기 된 것으로 본다. 관매도의 대표적인 풍경은 사빈과 사구 그리고 송림, 관매 8경인 꽁돌, 방에섬 등은 그 위치 및 산지배열, 지질적 조건 등이 지형형성작용과 결합되어 오늘날의 경관을 구성하게 되었고, 그러한 지형경관에 인간의 점유와 생활환경이 가미되면서 함께 재구성되었다는 사실을 살펴보았다. 이러한 재구성이 바로 지속가능한 발전이라고 볼 수 있으며 관매도를 유지하는 틀의 구성으로 보인다. 이러한 이해가 공간스토리텔링 되어 있는 지형경관의 사회－문화적 재구성을 이해하는 기초로서 필요하다는 것을 인식하였다. 이곳에서 살았던 사람이 자연환경과 상호작용을 통해서 풍경을 지형－사회－문화적으로 그려 내면서 지속가능한 삶 속에서 지켜왔듯이 관매도의 이해는 일차적으로 수 억 년의 세월을 통해서 인간에게 주는 순수한 지형경관의 이미지와 자연과 인간이 지속가능한 상호작용 속에서 이루진 내재적 가치를 갖는 정위(正位)의 풍경이다.
Abstract
The Kwanmae-island is located in Marine National Park, and The island within the enclosure of Mountains and Coastal line, is situated on the Southern of Hajo Do. This study researches about the kwanmae island how was rebuild geomorphological-social-cultural reconstruction through the regional geomorphological understandings of the diversity and elaborate landscapes of landform. Kwanmae-island nature has become the landscapes(sceneries) of island by human occupancy that reconstructing social-cultural. As a result of investigation of documentary records and maps, the place-name of Kawnmae-island appears since the Japanese colonial period, we were able to determine ‘Bolmae-island’ prior to that period. Outstanding landscape in Kwanmae-island consisted of sand beach, sand dune, and pine trees. Such landscape is represented now landscapes in kwanmae-island, by combining location, mountains arrangement, geological conditions with morpho-genesis. It ascertained the fact that such landforms landscape was tied again human occupancy and life environments. This reconstruction can be sustainable development, also the frame to maintain kwanmae-island. We need to understan social-cultural reconstructing of landscape for the bases of space-storytelling Understandings of Kwanmae-island landscape is firstly the positive location that has the intrinsic value that formed in nature-human sustainable interaction and pure landscape’s image through hundreds of millions of years of the time
