어청도는 섬의 규모에 비해 심미적, 학술⋅교육적 가치가 큰 지형경관자원이 다수 산재하고 있음에도 불구하고 지형발달과 보전에 관한 관심과 연구가 미비하다. 이에 본 연구는 어청도의 가치 있는 지형경관자원을 발굴하고, 지형발달 특징과 지속가능한 관광으로서 활용 방안을 제언하고자 진행되었다. 본고에서 제시한 어청도의 지형경관자원은총 39개로 크게 해안지형(29개), 산지지형(5개), 기타 미분류 지형(5개)으로 구분된다. 이들 지형은 섬을 이루고 있는기반암의 구조적 특징과 이로부터 기인한 암석의 풍화 특성을 매우 잘 반영하고 있다. 지속가능한 관광으로서 어청도의지형경관자원 활용을 위해서는 산악트레일 코스 조성, 환도유람선 운영과 같은 새로운 관광 콘텐츠 도입이 필요하며, 기존에 조성된 해설판의 검증과 보완, 지역주민을 활용한 해설사 양성이 함께 진행되어야 한다. 이러한 시도는 어청도의 침체된 도서관광 활성화와 더불어 지역의 새로운 부가가치 창출에도 작은 보탬이 될 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
Although there are many geomorphological landscape resources in Eocheong-do that have large aesthetic and academic/educational value compared to its size, interest and research on the topographic development of the island and reservation of the resources is scarce as of now. This study attempts to discover valuable geomorphological landscape resources in Eocheong-do and its topographic development characteristics and propose ways of using them for sustainable tourism. This paper suggests a total of 39 geomorphological landscape resources in Eocheong-do, including 29 coastal landforms, 5 mountain landforms, and 5 other unclassified landforms. These landforms reflect the structural characteristics of bedrock that forms the island and the weathering properties of rocks that originated from it very well. To use the geomorphological landscape resources in Eocheong-do for sustainable tourism, introduction of new tourism contents is required, such as creation of mountain trail course and operation of roundtrip cruise ship. Moreover, investigation and correction of the previously made interpretation board and cultivation of interpreters by using local residents should also be implemented. This kind of change will not only activate the currently sluggish island tourism in Eocheong-do, but also make contribution to the creation of new added value in the region to a certain levels.
