Abstract
This paper focuses on the study of the Buddhist deity worship in shamanism. This is an issue that needed to be explored along with other related issues. Therefore, this paper also explains how in the historical development of human civilization, especially of mythological era, the Buddhism had emerged. This paper discusses the three different examples of how such changes are applied differently in the mythical epic. We discussed the changes before and after the introduction of Christianity through the comparison of 《Gilgamesh》 《Odyssey》 and 《Beowulf》. The study then categorizes the results of the conflict between medieval Buddhist civilization and Korean shamanism. There was no static soft landing. It is the point of the study that Korean shamanism and Buddhism were gradually assimilated and developed through deep and long running conflicts. In the course of this process, direct historical absorption and unification have finally been achieved through the assimilation between Buddhism and Korean shamanism. The process of medievalization of shamanism and the evolution of Buddhism became possible at the same time as simultaneous development. The Buddhist deity who are worshipped in shamanistic practice provides a concrete example of this, which shows a systematic reorganization among the different beliefs. The study also confirms that they were showing different patterns in rituals for the living and rituals for the dead . Among them, rituals for the living were combined with rituals for Buddhism deity Jeseokchon, (Indra) and structured with Buddhist practices. On the other hand, the rituals for the dead were mainly centered around the deity Bari Gongju, (Princess Bari), while the addition of Buddhist deities of Jijang Bodhisattva (Dicang) and Siwang (Ten Kings of the Dead, Yama Kings) shaped the world of the dead as an assimilated structure.
