고령자의 사회적 고립문제와 교회의 사회적 책임

초록

본 논문은 본성적으로 사회에로의 존재론적 지향성을 지닌 사회적 기관인 교회에 초점을 두고, 고령자의 사회적 고립문제에 대한 ‘교회의 사회적 책임’에 대하여 교회의 본질적 특성 및 기능인 Koinonia와 Diakonia를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 이러한 논의에 근거하여 고령자의 사회적 고립문제의 극복을 위한 교회의 사회적 책임에 대하여 다음의 두 가지를 제시하였다. 첫째, 교회의 사명은 예수가 버림받고 소외된 자들을 찾아 돌보고 그들과 함께-더불어 살며 섬기셨던 것(Diakonia)처럼 고독감과 고립, 빈곤과 질병에 시달리는 고령자들을 섬기며 돌보는 것이 이 시대 교회의 사회적 책임이다. 둘째, 성경속의 초기 교회 공동체는 인간관계가 서로 단절되어 있는 사회 가운데서 사랑의 관계(Koinonia)를 회복시켜 인간의 사회적 고립이 사라지게 하고 함께-더불어 사는 사랑과 친교의 공동체를 이루어 갔듯이, 오늘날의 교회도 초기교회 공동체와 같이 삶의 자리에서 서로 교제하며, 사랑을 나누는 Koinonia의 삶을 실현해야 한다. 왜냐하면 이것이 오늘날 다양한 사회적 요인에 의해 사회로부터 배제되어 있는 고령자의 사회적 고립을 극복하기 위해 요청되는 교회의 사회적 책임이기 때문이다.

Abstract

This study focused on church, a social institution that has innately ontological orientation towards the society. Specifically, Koinonia and Diakonia, the essential characteristics and functions of church, were explored to investigate the ‘social responsibility of church’ regarding social isolation of seniors. Based on the results, the following are suggested as to the social responsibility of today's church to tackle the social isolation issue of seniors. First, the social responsibility and mission of today's church is to serve and take care of seniors suffering from loneliness, isolation, poverty, and diseases. It is in line with the charity work of Jesus Christ who shared his life with those who were abandoned and isolated (Diakonia). Second, the early biblical church community restored the relationship based on love (Koinonia) in the society where human relationships were at their worst. As a result, social isolation of people was solved and a humane community based on love and fellowship was established. Likewise, today's church should create a Koinonia-like community where people interact with each other with love and sharing, just like the early biblical church community did. It is the social responsibility of today's church, which is required to alleviate the social isolation of seniors arising from various social factors.
