영적 안녕감이 노인의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향: 죽음불안과 우울의 매개효과를 중심으로

The effect of spiritual well-being on the elderly’s quality of life : Focused on the mediating effect of death anxiety and depression

초록

본 연구는 영적 안녕감이 노인의 삶의 질에 어떠한 영향이 있는지, 그리고 실존적 영적 안녕감과 종교적 영적 안녕감으로 구성된 영적 안녕감이 그들 간의 관계에서 매개효과가 있는지를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 경기도에 위치한 노인종합복지관, 종합사회복지관, 노인회관, 주민센터, 문화센터 등을 이용하는 65세 이상의 노인 260명을 추출하였으며, 이를 분석에 활용하였다. 방법론적으로는 SPSS과 sobel-test를 이용하여 노인의 영적 안녕감과 삶의 질, 그리고 그들 간의 관계에서 죽음불안과 우울의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 노인의 종교적 영적 안녕감은 삶의 질에 정적인 영향을 보였으며, 실존적 영적 안녕감도 삶의 질에 정적인 영향이 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 노인의 종교적 영적 안녕감과 실존적 영적 안녕감은 우울에 부적인 영향을 보였으며, 노인의 종교적 영적 안녕감과 실존적 영적 안녕감은 죽음불안에 부적인 영향이 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 죽음불안은 종교적 영적 안녕감과 삶의 질 간을 매개한 반면, 죽음불안은 실존적 영적 안녕감과 삶의 질 간을 매개하지 않는 것을 검증하였다. 셋째, 우울은 종교적 영적 안녕감과 삶의 질 간을 매개하는 것을 검증하였으며, 우울은 실존적 영적 안녕감과 삶의 질 간을 매개하는 것을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 이론적 측면에서, 노인의 높지 않은 실존적 영적 안녕감 또는 종교적 영적 안녕감으로 인해 그들의 삶의 질이 낮아질 수 있는 상황에서 우울과 죽음불안과 같은 매개요인을 찾아냈다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 실천적·정책적 측면에서, 우울을 낮추거나, 죽음불안의 감소를 통해 노인의 삶의 질을 높일 수 있는 몇 가지 함의를 제언하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of depression and death anxiety between spiritual well-being composed of the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being and the elderly’s quality of life. For the purpose, 260 data, which was surveyed from The elderly’s Welfare Centers, Total Social Welfare Centers, Senior Halls, Community Service Centers, Cultural Centers located in Kyunggi-do were utilized. SPSS and Sobel-test was methodologically performed to verify the significance of mediating effect of depression and death anxiety between spiritual well-being and quality of life. The results were as follows: (1) The religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being were positively influenced on the elderly’s quality of life. And, The religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being were negatively influenced on the elderly’s depression and death anxiety. (2) Death anxiety mediated between the religious spiritual well-being and the quality of life, but Death anxiety did not mediate between the existential spiritual well-being and the quality of life. (3) Depression mediated between the religious spiritual well-being and the quality of life, and Depression mediated between the existential spiritual well-being and the quality of life. In terms of theoretical, it had significance in the sense that found the mediated effects such as depression and death anxiety, in situations that the elderly’s quality of life could decrease due to the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being. By practical and policy, some implications were discussed to improve the elderly’s quality of life through reducing depression and death anxiety.
