노인의 우울이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 - 영적 안녕감의 매개효과를 중심으로 -

초록

본 연구는 노인의 우울이 삶의 질에 어떠한 영향이 있는지를 확인하고, 종교적 영적 안녕감과 실존적 영적 안녕감으로 구성된 영적 안녕감이 그들 간의 관계를 매개하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 경기도 남부에 위치하고 있는 복지관 등을 이용하는 65세 이상의 노인 259명을 추출하였으며, 이를 분석에 활용하였다. 방법론적으로는 SPSS Indirect macro를 이용하여 노인의 우울과 삶의 질 간 종교적 영적 안녕감과 실존적 영적 안녕감의 매개효과의 유의성을 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 첫째, 노인의 우울은 삶의 질에 부적(-)인 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 노인의 우울이 심할수록 삶의 질이 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 종교적 영적 안녕감은 노인의 우울과 삶의 질 간을 매개하는 것을 검증하였다. 셋째, 실존적 영적 안녕감은 노인의 우울과 삶의 질 간을 매개하는 것을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 이론적 측면에서, 노인의 우울로 인해 삶의 질이 낮아질 수 있는 상황에서 종교적 영적 안녕감과 실존적 영적 안녕감과 같은 매개요인을 찾아냈다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 실천적·정책적 측면에서, 우울을 낮추거나, 종교적 영적 안녕감 또는 실존적 영적 안녕감의 향상을 통해 노인의 삶의 질을 높일 수 있는 몇 가지 함의를 제언하였다.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the mediating effect of spiritual well-being composed of the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being between depression and the elderly’s quality of life. For the study, 259 data composed of the age of 65 and over, which was surveyed from Social Welfare Centers for the elderly located in the south area of Kyunggi-do were utilized. Methodologically, SPSS Indirect Macro was performed to confirm the significance of mediated effects of the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being between depression and quality of life. The results of the study were as follows: (1) Depression of the elderly was negatively influenced on quality of life. (2) The religious spiritual well-being was mediated between depression and quality of life. (3) The existential spiritual well-being was mediated between depression and quality of life. In terms of theoretical, it had significance in the sense that found the mediated effects such as the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being, in situations that the elderly’s quality of life could decrease due to depression. By practical and policy, some implications were discussed to improve the elderly’s quality of life through reducing depression, improving the religious spiritual well-being and the existential spiritual well-being.
