디아코니아와 일반사회복지의 학문적 융합 가능성(?)에 관한 연구

초록

오늘날 한국교회는 사회복지실천 참여 속에서 점점 더 그 고유한 정체성과 전문성을 추구해가고 있는 상황이다. 그런데 우리가 그동안 이해한 전문성이란 흔히 일반사회복지의 전문성을 의미한다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 이러한 잘못된 인식을 하게 된 요인 가운데 하나는 한국교회에 디아코니아(기독교사회복지)에 대한 정체성과 전문적 학문기반을 갖춘 디아코니아학문이 인식되기도 전에, 일반사회복지학 관점에서 디아코니아를 접근했기 때문이다. 이러한 시도는 학문적 정체성이 분명하게 다른 일반사회복지학문을 차용해서 기독교사회복지를 근거시키는 근본적인 오류를 낳게 되었다. 따라서 이제 한국에서 2000년대 초반부터 등장한 디아코니아학문을 통해 그동안 기독교사회복지에 대한 학문적인 오류를 바로잡고, 기독교사회복지를 고유한 정체성과 전문성에 대한 이해와 인식 속에서 발전시켜갈 필요가 있다. 이러한 필요성에서 본 연구는 디아코니아가 자체원리학문에 기초해서 정체성을 갖고 전문적으로 발전해가도록 디아코니아학문의 정당성을 얻기 위한 목적아래 문헌연구를 중심으로 디아코니아학문의 제 요소를 통해 분석함으로 디아코니아와 일반사회복지의 학문적 융합가능성(?)에 대해 연구하였다. 이를 통해 얻어진 결론은 디아코니아를 위해 인본주의에 기초한 사회복지학문이 학문적 이론을 제공해 줄 수 있는 것이 아니라, 신학원리에 기초한 실천신학의 한 분야인 디아코니아학문으로 기독교사회복지에 대한 이론이 제공되어야 하는 정당성을 얻었다. 즉, 기독교사회복지를 기초해주는 자기정체성의 원리체계를 가진 디아코니아학문에 대해 일반사회복지학문이 교집합의 융합적인 토대위에서 기독교사회복지 이론을 정립하려는 시도는 엄밀한 의미에서 학문적 정당성을 얻기 어렵다. 다만, 고유한 자기정체성을 가진 디아코니아학문이 인문사회과학, 자연과학등과 대화하며 협동적 연구를 할 수 있는 점에서 역시 일반사회복지학문과도 대화 내지 협동할 수 있을 뿐이다. 따라서 디아코니아를 이론으로 기초시켜주는 디아코니아학문은 일반사회복지학문과는 아주 다른 자기체계원리를 가진 실천신학의 한 분야에 속하며, 이론실천학문으로 총체적 신학과의 관계 속에서 학문적으로 기여할 수 있고, 교회의 디아코니아실천을 위한 정체성과 전문성을 기초시켜주는 학문적 정당성을 얻는다. 그로써 한국교회의 기독교사회복지가 디아코니아학문에 기초해서 정체성과 전문성을 가지고 발전해 갈 수 있는 길과 그 과제를 제시하였다.

Abstract

The contemporary Korean Churches are increasingly searching for their own identity and special quality in their involvement for a practically oriented social welfare. But it is not exaggerated to state that until recently the unique system of diaconia was only considered as a special field of humanitarian social welfare. This misconception can be explained by the fact that diaconia was viewed under the conception of social welfare sciences without having any insight into the peculiar quality of diaconia. This misconception results in a basically wrong understanding of diaconia as being based on social welfare science with its totally different identity. It is therefore necessary to correct this fundamental misunderstanding so that diaconia can be understood and developed as a unique form of help with its own identity. This paper intends to state the legitimacy of diaconia which can specialize with scientific principles of its own. For this purpose it is common practice to use an analytical method of using diverse source research in the field of diaconia to achieve a mutual cooperation with a stimulating effect of diaconia and social welfare. As a consequence this study wants to achieve the certain legitimization of the science of diaconia as part of practical theology which is supposed to serve diaconia with its unique theories. This means that it is unacceptable and illegitimate from a scientific point of view to attempt to achieve an interdisciplinary fusion of diaconia and social welfare in order to form a scientific theory of diaconia based on a humanistic science of social welfare. Therefore it is completely logical to make a dialogue or rather a cooperation between the science of diaconia and social welfare, as long as the science of diaconia can make a dialogue and cooperation with human social science and natural science. Consequently the science of theoretical diaconia which is fundamentally different from the science of state social welfare belongs to the field of practical theology which can do excellent service for the whole field of theology and it is therefore entitled to claim scientific legitimacy as basis of a specifically diaconical field of activity. On these fundamental principles it is possible to show a task and a way to give the field of diaconia which is based on the research oriented science of diaconia an identity and peculiarity of its own.
