‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 관계에 대한 이해 - 본회퍼의 『성도의 공동생활』을 중심으로 -

초록

‘초개인화(Hyper-Personalization)’ 시대를 직면하여 각 개인의 가치, 선호 그리고 맥락을 소홀히 하지 않으면서도, 교회의 공동체성을 강조할 수 있는 방법과 전략은 무엇인가’라는 질문에 답하는 것이 이 논문의 목적이다. 이를 위해 본회퍼가 『성도의 공동생활』에서 강조한 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 관계성을 중심으로 연구한다. 그리고 이 둘의 관계성은 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’이 서로 분리되지 않고 서로의 개별적 특성을 인정하면서도 역설적인 공동체를 형성한다는 결론에 도달했다. 본회퍼는 이것을 분명하게 설명하기 위해 ‘말과 침묵’의 관계 그리고 ‘몸과 지체’의 관계를 예를 들어 설명했다. 이것을 통해 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 관계성은 말씀 위에서만 올바르게 파악될 수 있다는 사실이 드러났다. 그리고 그는 이 모든 근거로 ‘타인을 사랑하였기에 홀로 있는 예수’의 존재에 집중하였다. 마지막으로 본회퍼가 이해한 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 의미를 중심으로 오늘날 한국교회에 주는 실천적이며 윤리적인 의의를 살펴보았다. 우선, 한국교회는 본회퍼에 의해 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’이 동시에 강조되고 있는 점을 기억해야 한다. 그리고 두 번째는 이렇게 성장별, 관심별 그리고 세대별로 특화된 다양한 맞춤형 플렛폼이 제공될 때 그 내용도 중요하다. 결국 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’을 연결하고 상호작용하게 하는 것은 말씀이기 때문이다. 세 번 째로는 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 관계성을 강조한 본회퍼의 이해는 오늘날 한국교회로 하여금 세상과 동떨어져 존재하는 고립된 존재가 아니라, 세상 한복판에서도 그리스도인들로 하여금 하나님 나라 공동체를 위한 사회적 책임을 다하도록 안내할 수 있다는 점이다. 왜냐하면 그리스도인들은 공동체로 ‘함께 있음’의 의미를 이제 세상 속에서 ‘홀로 있음’으로 검증을 해야 하기 때문이다. 마지막으로 ‘함께 있음’과 ‘홀로 있음’의 관계성은 결국 우리를 말씀 그 자체인 그리스도에게로 인도한다. 다시 말하면 그리스도의 몸과 지체라는 관계성으로 안내한다는 것이다. 그래서 전인적인 체험이 가능한 몸이 동반된 만남들이 오히려 초개인화 시대에 더 중요하다는 사실을 강조하였다.

Abstract

This paper answers the question, “Facing the era of ‘Hyper-Personalization,’ what are the methods and strategies that can emphasize the communal nature of the church without neglecting each individual’s values, preferences, and context?” That is the purpose. To this end, the study focuses on the relationship between ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ that Bonhoeffer emphasized in 『Life Together』. And the relationship between the two led to the conclusion that ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ are not separate from each other, but form a paradoxical community while acknowledging each other’s individual characteristics. To explain this clearly, Bonhoeffer gave examples of the relationship between ‘speech and silence’ and the relationship between ‘body and members’. Through this, it was revealed that the relationship between ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ can only be properly understood through the Word. And on the basis of all these, he focused on the existence of ‘Jesus, who was alone because he loved others.’ Lastly, we looked at some of the practical and ethical significance of today’s Korean church, focusing on the meaning of ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ as understood by Bonhoeffer. First of all, we must remember that the Korean church emphasizes both ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ by Bonhoeffer. And secondly, when various customized platforms are provided that are specialized for each growth, interest, and generation, the content is also important. Ultimately, it is the Word that connects ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ and makes them interact. Thirdly, Bonhoeffer's understanding that emphasizes the relationship between 'being together' and 'being alone' allows the Korean church today not to be an isolated entity that exists apart from the world, but to enable Christians to form a community of God's kingdom even in the midst of the world. The point is that it can guide people to fulfill their social responsibilities. This is because Christians must now verify the meaning of ‘being together’ as a community by ‘being alone’ in the world. Lastly, the relationship between ‘being together’ and ‘being alone’ ultimately leads us to Christ, the Word itself. In other words, it guides us to the relationship between the body and members of Christ. Therefore, it was emphasized that physical encounters that enable holistic experiences are more important in the era of hyper-individualization.
