정보통신기술(ICT) 발전으로 등장한 네트워크 시대의 다양한 정치참여 현상에 주목한 이 연구는 한국의 세대와 ICT 활용능력에 따른 정치참여에 대해 분석하고자 한다. 연구가 주목한 것은 1987년 민주화를 기점으로 세대를 구분하여 각각의 정치참여 행태의 차이를 살펴보고자 했다. 그리고 네트워크 사회에 새롭게 확산되고 있는 ICT 활용능력을 또 다른 축으로 구성하여 4개의 집단군을 구성해서 정치참여 유형별 특징에 대해 분석했다. 연구는 설문조사를 통해 취합한 자료를 바탕으로 계량적인 연구방법론을적용하였다. 연구 결과, ICT의 2040세대와 5070세대의 정치적 참여행태에는 분명한 차이가 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. ICT 활용능력이 좋은 2040세대는 비관습적인 참여와 온라인 참여에 적극적인 반면, 5070세대는 관습적인 참여, 비관습적인 참여 그리고온라인 참여 모두 적극적이다. 이는 ICT 활용효과가 5070세대에 더 강하게 작용하고있음을 알려주고 있어 기존 연구와는 차별성을 보인다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the development of information and communication technology (ICT) and various political participation phenomena in the network age. Information and communication technology has led to many changes in political processes and political participation. This study deeply analyzed the types of political processes and political participation in a changing network society. The research methodology applied quantitative analysis method using survey. The results of the study are as follows. First, there is a difference between the types of political participation in the 20s-40s generation and the 50s-70s generation in Korea. Second, unlike previous research, 50s-70s generation are more active in ICT-based participation.
