본 연구는 소셜 네트워크 서비스(SNS)의 등장에 따라, 이를 활용한 정치적 실험에 천착해 SNS 사용자들의 정치참여 행태를 분석하고자 한다. 연구에서는 SNS를 사용하는 이들을 기존 생애주기와 코호트이론과는 다르게, 소셜 네트워크에 적응하는 세대로서 ICTs(정보통신기술) 활용능력을 바탕으로 ‘소셜 네트워크 세대(SN세대)’로 규정한다. 그리고 SNS 사용에 따라 온라인, 오프라인 그리고 관습적, 비관습적 정치참여에 어떤 영향을 주는지, 그 영향은 긍정적인지, 부정적인지를 살펴볼 것이다. 연구는 첫째, SN세대의 정치참여 행태를 기존 인터넷 초기 세대와 비교하여 집단 간 정치참여 차이를 분석해 함의를 추출할 것이다. 둘째, SN세대와 웹 1.0세대 간의 정치참여 상관성을 분석한다. 셋째, SN세대의 정치참여를 결정하는 요인 중에서 ICTs 활용능력 변수의 영향력을 측정하고자 한다. 본 연구의 연구방법론은 선행연구를 바탕으로 변수를 설정하고, SN세대를 조작적으로 정의하여 네티즌 중 연령과 성을 기준으로 할당 표집하고 표본을 추출하여 계량적으로 분석했다.
Abstract
Recently the SNS(social network services) that uses Web 2.0 technology has drastically spread out all over the world. Therefore, the political science scholars have great interest in political effect of SNS. SNS already has proven its political participation effect in the U.S. presidential election in 2008, local election in Korea and general election in the Great Britain in 2010. And, in early 2011, it has been facilitated as a tool for civil participation of the democratic civil movement in Egypt and Tunisia. Under this trend, this study is aimed at analyzing the types of political participation for SNS users. In this study, those people that use SNS are the generation that is adapted to social network unlike the existing life cycle and political cohort theories that they define the ICTs(information and communication technologies) facilitation competency as the ‘social network generation(SN generation)’. And the study is intended to take a look at the use of SNS in what influence would it have on online and off-line, and conventional and unconventional political participation as well as whether the influence is positive or negative. And the methodology of the study uses quantified research methodology.
