본 연구는 어머니의 놀이신념, 양육행동과 유아의 상호작용적 또래놀이와의 관계를 분석하여, 유아의 사회적 능력을 증진시키는 데 있어서 중요한 환경인 상호작용적 또래놀이에서의 어머니의 놀이신념과 양육행동이 갖는 중요성을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 및 경기지역에 소재하고 있는 유치원 세 곳의 만 4세 유아 146명의 어머니와 담임교사를 대상으로 자기보고식 질문지를 이용하여 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구 결과를 보면, 어머니의 놀이지지신념은 양육행동의 과보호․허용행동을 제외한 세 개의 하위 영역에 유의미한 영향력을 끼치는 변인이었다. 또한 어머니의 놀이지지신념은 상호작용적 또래놀이 중 긍정적 형태인 상호적 또래놀이에 정적인 영향을 미치는 변인이었다. 어머니의 놀이신념 및 양육행동이 유아의 상호작용적 또래놀이에 미치는 영향력을 분석한 결과, 어머니의 놀이지지신념만이 상호적 또래놀이에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타나서 어머니의 양육행동은 유아의 상호작용적 또래놀이에 유의미한 영향력을 가지지 못하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 긍정적인 유아의 상호작용적 또래놀이의 증진을 위해 어머니의 놀이지지신념을 형성과 실제 놀이지지신념이 양육행동으로 반영될 수 있도록 하는 다양한 지원 방안이 논의되었다.
Abstract
The current study was aimed to investigate relationships between mothers’ belief of play and child rearing and the interactive peer play of their children in early childhood. Self-report questionnaires were given to 146 children's mothers and 7 teachers, from which some implications were concluded through the data analysis. The mothers’ beliefs of play, in particular play support beliefs, showed both positive and negative co-relation with their child rearing behavior except over-protection and passive permission. Their play support beliefs were also shown to take a significant effect on the type of interactive peer play, however, the mothers’ child rearing behavior, by contrast, did not show any significant effect on it. Finally, a need was identified and discussed to develop parent education and involvement programs, through which mothers can build their play support belief and reflect it in their child rearing behavior.
