Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of environmental knowledge (EK) on environmental behavior (EB) among pre-service early childhood teachers, with a particular focus on the mediating roles of environmental attitudes (EA), environmental sensitivity (ES), and environmental behavioral intention (EBI). Data were collected from 267 pre-service teachers majoring in early childhood education at a four-year university. Using SPSS PROCESS macro Model 80, both direct and mediated effects of EK on EB were analyzed, with attention to the mediating effects of EA, ES, and EBI. The findings indicated that EK, specifically subjective EK, is a significant predictor of EB, with its effects partially mediated by ES and EBI, but not by EA. These results offer valuable insights for the design and development of teacher education policies and programs aimed at fostering EB among pre-service early childhood educators.
