Located in the Far East,peninsula Korea has an old history. Althogh Korean got much energy from the sea, it had less concerns and activities about the sea. So, it's difficult to say that we have a sea literature like those of the active West European's. Korean didn't exploit the sea as the basis of their livelihood. Instead of forming the experiences into literature,their concerns was focused on the shipping. The shipping was the method of transportation and from it they got the practical experiences. The sea was a way of foreign exchanges. In the poetry and other prose writings about sea images and driftings, it can be found their various thoghts of the sea. From studying the literatures and recordings about the sea, we can confirm the other characteristics of our literature.
