이 논문은 ‘비움’의 노장철학적 함의를 탐색해보고 이를 형상화한 우언 몇 작품을 검토하였다. 이 논문은 한국과 중국의 우언을 통해 욕망의 문제를 접근해보려는 필자의 작업의 일환으로 쓰여졌다.우리가 이 땅에 발을 딛고 사는 한, 먹고 사는 문제의 해결과 영속적 삶에 대한 욕망으로부터 자유롭지 못하다. 인생은 욕망의 충족과정이라고도 할 수 있다. 문제는 이러한 욕망의 추구가 일정한 도를 넘어 남의 존재를 무시할 정도로 배타성을 띠고 공격적으로 나아가는 데 있다. 그래서 이 논문에서는 욕망의 자제를 촉구하는 비움의 철학에 주목했다. 모든 것을 물질의 관점에서 바라보는 현금 자본주의의 추악한 모습을 목도하면, 노장사상에서 말하는 ‘검박함’이나 ‘비움’은 현재적 의미를 지닌다고 할 수 있다.그리고 이러한 시각에서 장자의 <북궁사가 종을 빨리 만든 이유>와 <종수의 줄긋기>, <병의 의미>, 이광정의 <쥐와 고양이>, 박지원의 <허생전>을 검토하였다.마지막으로 마음을 비우고 물질적으로는 좀 가난하더라도 마음이 풍요로운 삶의 양식을 추구할 것이 바람직하다는 결론을 내렸다.
Abstract
This thesis deals with the thought of emptiness expressed in the works of Laozi and Chuangtzu, and related allegoric tales of Korea and China. As far as living in the earth, we can not free from the desire to eat delicious meal, to wear good cloths, to survive for a long time. But the problem is extreme desire causing conflict with another people. To solve this problem, this thesis concerned the thought of emptiness expressed in the works of Laozi and Chuangtzu. And this thesis deals with the allegoric tales of Chuangtzu, Lee Guang-jung, Park Ji-won. Lastly this thesis concluded that we should have simple life style even if poor, in order to free from the capture of ceaseless desire based on capitalism and mammomism.
