Since an object moves from the source to the goal through a path, the translocative event has perceptual saliency. Repeatedly experienced movements form the image schema, which is a conceptual basis for the translocative construction, based on construals of them. In Korean, several translocative constructions have been developed through windowing of attention to space change and aspectual meaning to time flow. The ey construction prototypically represents the unbounded space for the goal and is related to the resultative aspect after completion of the event, and the lo construction represents the direction or the unbounded path in space and is related to the progressive aspect. And the lul construction represents the holistic and bounded range of path in space and time, which is related to the perfective aspect. Each construction corresponds to various types of translocative situations, and forms a polysemic network by metaphorical expansion or conceptual blending based on background knowledge.
