Abstract
The aim of this paper is to research the Formants of the Korean 8 monophthongs by Korean native speakers and Japanese native speakers. The contents which statistically manifest significantly in comparative Formant values on this paper are as follows; In Korean vowel [ i ] pronounced by Korean speaker, the height of the tongue is lower than that by Japanese speakers, In Korean vowels [ e, ε, o ] by Korean speakers, the height of the tongue is higher than that by Japanese. In the case of Back vowels [ o, u ] and neutral [ i ], the position of the Korean`s tongue is more back than Japanese. Korean vowel [ ∧ ] by Korean speaker is pronounced backward than Japanese.
