Manchu has three morphemes of finite verb endings that express ‘desires’. They are -ki, -kini, and -cina. Even though most references to Manchu provide descriptions about the basic usages of these morphemes, their descriptions are not elaborate enough to explicate the specifics of the morphemes. This is the very point where the raison d'être of this paper lies: To offer an extensive explanation on the meanings and uses of the ‘desire’ morphemes in Manchu. -Ki, -kini, and -cina all basically mean the desire of the speaker, but their specific meanings can change with respect to the person. When these morphemes are combined with the verb se-(‘to say’), they mean the desire of the subject of the sentence, instead of the speaker's. In this way, these morphemes form a desiderative mood.
