일제 말기 국민연극의 무대 연구 : 국민연극경연대회 참가작을 중심으로

Abstract

The stage of the national theater at the end of Japanese colonial rule showed a much different situation compared to the works of the previous period, such as the realistic drama of the Dramatic Arts Research Society, the professional drama of Karp, and the popular drama of the Oriental Theater. Since most works before the National Theater dealt with the misery of Joseon's farmers, the reality of workers, and domestic tragedies, the staging was mainly set in decaying rural areas and fishing villages, homes, and parlors. In this trend, the stage of the national play in the late Japanese colonial period showed a clear difference from the previous era in terms of background and stage effect. This study is an expansive work that examines in detail the reality of the national theater stage, which has been predicted by the word ‘development’ or summoned by several writers and works. This work serves to fill in the loose flows found in the history of Korean theater and play by discussing in detail the period and situation that became an important inflection point in the Korean theater stage, the national theater at the end of Japanese colonial rule. Accordingly, in the main text, this paper plans to look at the overall stages shown in the 1st to 3rd entries of the National Theater Competition. The reason why we want to understand it as a sequential flow of time stems from our research attitude of looking at it calmly, given that this is the first work to look at the development in detail.
