초록
This study investigates the corrosion characteristics of 316 and 304 stainless steels, which are commonly used in high-pressure seawater environments. We specifically examine how sodium chloride in seawater affects the corrosion resistance of these materials. To simulate realistic deep-sea conditions, we assess corrosion resistance in a solution prepared by dissolving carbon dioxide gas in 3.5% saltwater, maintained at a pressure of 3 bar. Experiments using a profilometer are conducted to measure weight loss, the ratio of corroded area to total surface area, and corrosion depths. We also employ stylus profilometry and scanning electron microscopy to analyze corrosion mechanisms and visually observe surface degradation. Comparative results reveal significant differences in corrosion resistance between the two stainless steel grades, which provide key insights into their suitability for deep-sea applications. This study is expected to contribute standards for selecting optimal stainless steel materials and enhancing durability in harsh marine environments. Addressing factors that influence the longevity and reliability of materials used in carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities, this research helps to improve the stability and operational efficiency of CCS infrastructures. The insights derived from this study provide a valuable foundation for designing and maintaining advanced systems that can withstand severe marine conditions.
