약물유해반응(adverse drug reactions)은 질병을 진단, 치료, 예방 목적으로 약물을 정상적으로 투여하였을 때 나타나는 의도되지 않은 해로운 반응으로 정의하고 있다.1 소아를 대상으로 한 국내 연구들에 의하면 약물유해반응의 원인 약물로는 항생제가 가장 많았으며, 그 다음으로 비스테로이드성 항염증제(nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)와 아스피린, 마약성 진통제, 마취제, 항암제, 진정제 등이 보고되었다.2,3
