Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among team efficacy, perceived loafing, and team project-based learning outcomes. Team efficacy is a shared team belief that the team can perform a particular task successfully. Perceived loafing is defined as an individual perception that one or more team members do not contribute to achieving the team goal which they are supposed to do. Although team efficacy and perceived loafing were considered important factors to the team performance, there was little research to test their interaction effect on team performance. To examine the interaction effect of team efficacy and perceived loafing, data were collected from 28 college students who were participating in team project-based learning, and hierarchical regression analysis was employed. As a result, it was found that there was a significant interaction effect of team efficacy and perceived loafing on the learning outcomes. The findings suggested that both team efficacy and perceived loafing should be considered to enhance the effectiveness of team project-based learning.
