Noddings와 Foucault 이론의 비교 분석을 통한자기배려 교육의 방향 정립

이 글은 자기배려를 강조한 Noddings와 Foucault의 자기배려 이론을 비판적으로 비교․분석함으로써 자기배려 교육이 지향해야 할 목적과 내용, 그리고 교육방법에 대한 시사점을 얻는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해, 첫째 Noddings와 Foucault의 자기배려의 개념과 자기배려와 타인배려와의 관계를 어떻게 규명하고 있는지를 비교함으로써 자기배려 교육이 지향해야 할 교육목적을 정립하였다. 둘째, 두 학자의 자기배려의 구성요소를 분석함으로써 자기배려 교육이 다루어야 할 내용을 추출하였다. 셋째, 두 학자의 자기배려의 방법을 비교․분석함으로써 자기배려 교육의 방법들에 대한 시사점을 얻었다. 논의의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기배려 교육의 목적은 Noddings의 자기배려처럼 자기수용과 자기완성에 머물러서는 안되며, Foucault처럼 좋은 삶을 위한 적극적 자기변형을 통해 자기구원(초월)에 도달하는 것까지도 포함해야 한다. 또한 자기배려 교육은 타인배려를 위한 교육활동과 연계되어야 한다. 둘째, 자기배려 교육의 내용은 자기에 대한 정확한 이해와 자기수용에서 시작해서 자기수련과 자기연마로 옮겨가야 한다. 이를 위해 현실적 배려내용을 대상으로 반성적 사고를 함양해야 하고 자기변형을 위한 영적 앎과 장착된 참된 진리를 사유를 이용한 명상을 통해 행동으로 옮길 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. 셋째, 자기인식과 자기이해를 위해 그리고 자기구원을 위한 변형의 방향성을 얻고 영적 앎을 획득하기 위해 자기경청, 자기대화, 자기 표현적 글쓰기, 교사의 말 경청과 독서 그리고 독서한 내용에 대한 글쓰기를 활용해야 한다. 또한 장착한 진리에 대해 사유하는 명상을 통해 지성을 개발하고 생각하는 법을 다듬어야 하며, 학생들이 일상적인 삶에서 접하게 되는 구체적인 주제에 대해 대화해야 한다. 교사는 자기배려를 실천함으로써 학생들에게 모범이 되어야 하며, 학생들이 자유롭게 대화할 수 있는 분위기를 형성해야 한다. 그리고 필요한 경우 최적의 순간에 최적의 형식으로 학생에게 진실을 말해 줌으로써 학생들이 진실을 수용하고 자기배려와 만날 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out each theory's strengths and limitations through comparison analysis of Noddings and Foucault's theory, and suggest that direction future development should take self-care education. In order to achieve the object of this study, first, I claim that purpose of self-care education based on that Noddings and Foucault how have been conceptualized about self-care and about relation between self-care and others-care. Second, I abstract that contents of self-care education based on that two theorists how have been defined about the essential ingredients for self-care. Third, I assert that methods of self-care education based on that two scholars how have been provided about methods of develop self-care. As a result, purpose of self-care education didn't remain in the self acception and self realization, and go out into the self transcendence and self rescue through self-transform. Also, self-care education must be expanded to others-care education. Contents of self-care education begin to accurate understanding about self and shifts to cultivate and training body and mind of self. Methods of self-care education use listening courteously about self, self-talk, self-expressive writing, listening on teacher's talk, reading and writing about reading, cultivation of reason through meditation contemplation.
