An Analysis of the Efficiency of Primary Agricultural Cooperative’s Marketing Center Using the DEA Model

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to estimate efficiency of primary agricultural cooperative's marketing center using Data Envelopment Analysis. The efficiency of the 68 primary agricultural cooperative’s marketing center was analyzed by using the DEA model. The technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency measure of the marketing center is 0.63, 0.88, 0.81 respectively. Among the 68 marketing center, the number of efficient marketing center whose efficiency value was 1 was ① 7 (10.3%) in the technical efficiency; ② 18 (26.5%) in the pure technical efficiency; and ③ 7 (10.3%) in scale efficiency. Among the 68 primary agricultural cooperative's marketing center, the number of Increasing Returns to Scale (IRS)-type marketing center was analyzed to be 35 (51.5%). The number of Constant Returns to Scale (CRS)-type marketing center was 8 (11.8%), and that of Decreasing Returns to Scale (DRS)-type marketing center was 25 (36.8%). Since an increase in input is lower than an increase in output in IRS, an increase in input factors such as new investments is required.
