The Role of Agricultural Cooperative under the Forecast of Korean Apiculture by the ARIMA Model

In spite of it's insignificant gravity from external viewpoint as the number of farm households and production amount, the apiculture has been implementing a critical role in the Korean agricultural sector for last four decades. But, it is anticipated that the Korean apiculture would be faced with difficulties such as unstability of apicultural income caused by increase of production and open of domestic bee products market. Therefore, the role of agricultural cooperatives is needed to overcome these difficulties essentially in this time. The purpose of this paper is to forecast the major indicators on the Korean apiculture in year 2008 and to find out the agricultural cooperative's strategies to protect the Korean apiculture and farm households. Consequently, this paper suggests two conclusions on the role of the agricultural cooperative as follows; Firstly, the systematization of apicultural producers which is led by the agricultural cooperative should be accelerated to enhance the efficiency of the Korean apiculture. Secondary, the operating and organizational system of agricultural cooperatives should be restructured toward marketing orientation. For example, a vertical integration system should be introduced actively among the agricultural cooperatives which is implementing businesses concerned bee product
