Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of self-monitoring strategies on the job performance for individuals with autistic disorder in vocational rehabilitation training center. Multiple baseline design across subjects were employed in three students individuals with autistic disorder. The dependent variables were the necessary time and accuracy(the number of error points) during performing soldering on the 20×20 and 28×62 substrate. The result of intervention was showed the reduction of the necessary time and increase of accuracy of performance. In conclusion, self-monitoring was effective on improving job performance since it lead to the use of self-directed learning strategies and encompass various strategies to use. However, it is necessary to develop detailed instruction and guidance for individuals with autistic disorder to apply. Therefore, follow up studies in the future should examine the effects of various programs or strategies, which is applicable to individuals with autistic disorder.
