코스닥시장 최초공모주의 초과수익률 분석을 통한 벤처캐피탈의 보증 역할에 관한 연구

초록

벤처캐피탈은 벤처기업에 자본으로 참여하였다가 증권시장을 통하여 투자금을 회수하는 일련의 순환과정을 거치게 되며, 이러한 과정을 통하여 벤처기업을 발굴하고 육성한다. 코스닥시장이 활성화되어 2006년 말 현재 시가 총액 7조 2,000억원, 상장법인 963개사로 성장했지만 일반투자자들의 경우 증권시장을 통하여 최초로 공모하는 벤처기업에 대해 불완전한 정보를 가진 상황에서 투자를 결정하게 된다. 즉, 공모기업과 시장에 참여하는 일반투자자들 사이에는 상장하려는 기업의 가치평가에 있어 정보 불균형 현상이 존재하는데 이를 해소하고 최초공모주의 저가발행 현상을 줄이기 위한 벤처캐피탈의 보증역할에 관한 연구의 필요성이 더욱 증대되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 최근의 자료를 활용하여 코스닥시장 최초공모주의 초과수익률 분석을 통한 벤처캐피탈의 보증역할과 IPO소요기간에 대한 변동요인 등을 분석함으로써 우리나라 벤처캐피탈과 코스닥시장의 제도발전에 기여하고자 한다.

Abstract

In this study, we sampled 64 companies that were invested by venture capitalists and 64 that were not among the corporations listed on the KOSDAQ market from Jan 2004 to Dec 2006. We studied the role of venture capitalists through analyzing the abnormal rate of return of our samples. This study is meaningful in a sense that it analyzed the problems of venture capitalists and proposed the proper role of them in order to nurture venture companies and vitalize the KOSDAQ market through improving regulations on venture capital industries.
