Abstract
Recently, the Jeju area has been facing problems such as an aging population and economic downturn in rural villages along with a decrease in the number of tourists. Accordingly, a new type of tourism and industrial strategy is required using local resources. As a solution to this problem, this study focuses on the village-level MICE industry as a way to revitalize the independent economy of small local communities, and proposes an integrated brand development plan to build the identity and image of the village MICE industry in Seogwipo, a cultural city. The study established a theoretical framework based on literature research and analysis of domestic and foreign village MICE and branding cases, derived brand naming candidates through image recognition surveys, compressed through the first survey, and performed design development. Brand preference was analyzed based on five evaluation items through the second survey. As a result of the survey, the brand 'Seoguri-daero' received relatively high evaluation in all items. This secured locality and linguistic intimacy at the same time by using the Jeju dialect, and the effect of the visual image reflecting Seogwipo's coastline and natural elements worked positively in the visual design. In particular, the score was higher than that of other countries in terms of identity, symbolism, and differentiation. This study emphasizes the need for a branding strategy based on regional identity, such as local language, natural environment, and cultural context, in the development of an integrated village MICE brand. When building a village-level MICE brand in the future, user-centered design and sustainable integrated image system develop ment will contribute to securing self-reliance and tourism competitiveness of the local community.
