Abstract
This study aims to examine power differences in perceptions of conflict management styles. Previous study by Zhang et als., which investigated perceptions of conflict management styles in intergenerations, was confounded with power when generation factor was manipulated in their experiment study. They manipulated generation difference as age difference. That is becuase in oriental countries age difference means generation difference as well as power difference. This study focuses on power differences in perceptions of conflict management styles under the control of generation factor. If perceptions of conflict management styles caused by power difference were equal to those of generation difference, Zhang et als’ conclusions about perceptions of conflict management styles in intergenerations study are likely to be partially due to power difference. Most of all, the results of this study were consistent of Zhang et als’ results. As a result, this study evidenced that Zhang et als’ results were likely to partially result from power difference. This study discusses the theoretical implications of the results of this study and limitations of this study. Furthere, future research are suggested.
