초등학교에 통합된 자폐성 장애학생의 개별화교육계획(IEP)에 대한 부모와 교사의 인식: 포커스그룹분석

통합교육의 실행과 함께 자폐성장애 학생들의 특성에 맞는 개별화교육계획이 적절히 수립되고 실행되는가에 대한 중요성이 더욱 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 10명의 초등 특수교사와 7명의 부모를 대상으로 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하여, 개별화교육계획 개발 및 실행의 실제와 함께 이들이 인식하는 성공적인 IEP에 대한 요구를 살펴보았다. 핵심어휘 분석결과는 모두 9개의 단어[‘담임(혹은 원반 선생님), 문제행동(혹은 공격행동), 의사소통, 협력, (외부)전문가, 지원, 통합, 사회성, 공격행동, 치료(사)’]로 정리되었으며, 두 집단의 면담내용 분석을 통해 도출된 주제는 (ㄱ) 일반적인 IEP 개발의 실제와 부모 참여, (ㄴ) 자폐학생 IEP에 대한 교사 및 부모의 요구, (ㄷ) 성공적인 자폐학생 지원을 위한 교사의 역량과 협력으로 비교분석되었다. 연구결과 현재 교과중심의 IEP는 자폐학생의 특성(사회성 및 의사소통 능력의 부족 등)을 고려한 IEP로의 개선이 필요하며, 특히 문제행동 지원에 대한 중요성이 강조되었다. 또한 현장 중심의 개선방안과 향후 연구과제가 논의되었다.
Abstract
As increasing numbers of students with ASD studying in inclusive settings, developing and implementing appropriate IEPs becomes more important to ensure quality of inclusive education for those who have ASD. The purpose of this study is to learn about teachers and parents’perspectives on current IEP development and implementation in Korean inclusive elementary education setting. Focus group interviews were conducted with 10 special educators and 7 parents of students with ASD. Transcribed interview contents were analyzed by key words, themes and sub themes. Identified needs for better IEPs include addressing characteristics of ASD, collaborating among teachers, parents, and other related professionals, enhancing teachers’ competencies and supporting them with materials and policy structure for IEP development and so on. Implication of the study results and suggestions for future research were also discussed.
