Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the skillstreaming program on the social skills and behavior problems of at-risk children for learning disabilities (LD). The subjects were 8 elementary students from 1st to 3rd grades who met the at-risk criteria of learning disabilities. The skillstreaming program was conducted for 6 weeks with a total of 24 sessions. The Social Skill Rating Scales (SSRS) was used to measure the levels of social skills and behavior problems. This paper used the Repeated Measures ANOVA and the Tukey post hoc analysis which compare the mean scores before & after intervention and for the maintenance period. The findings of this study were as follows. First, the skillstreaming program significantly improved the levels of social skills of at-risk children with LD except the sub-category of assertiveness, and the improvement was maintained even four weeks later after the intervention. Second, the skillstreaming program significantly reduced the levels of behavior problems of at-risk children for LD except the sub-category of externalizing behavior. The results of the Tukey post hoc test showed that significant differences were found between the scores after the intervention and the maintenance period.
