Abstract
This study is to understand how the adolescents with developmental disabilities made relationship and maintained it by participating in PEERS. It's also to explore the meaning of the experiences of the adolescents, parents, and researchers from their own perspectives. For this, a qualitative case study method was applied to explore the interactional change process of the participants in PEERS. The participants were 6 adolescents with developmental disabilities and their mothers. PEERS was conducted for 14 weeks. Results of the study through the patterns of making relationship among the participants are as follows. First, they began to make relationships through interactions that actively exchange information with each other. The relationships could be maintained by using various electronic communication devices. Their common interests helped their relationships grow and let them enjoy the relationships in activities. The results show that we should support adolescents with developmental disabilities to have opportunities even though they have lack of their social communication skills. Also it is important for parents to learn how they can help and support their children for social skills.
