청각장애인 부모의 건청 자녀에 대한 양육부담

본 연구는 청각장애인 부모들이 건청 자녀를 일반인들과 동등하게 양육해야 하는 의사소통 및 언어지도의 부담, 심리사회적 부담, 자녀교육 부담, 그리고 경제적 부담에 대해 알아봄으로써 청각장애인 부모들의 자녀양육에 대한 어려움을 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 한 청각장애인 부모들의 자녀양육을 지원에 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초적 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구의 연구대상은 경남지역에 거주하고 13세 이하의 건청 자녀를 둔 청각장애인 부모 56명이다. 연구방법은 연구자가 직접 청각장애인 부모를 면접하여 청각장애인 중 문장을 이해할 수 있는 부모에게는 질문지를 직접 작성하도록 하고, 질문지에 대한 문장 이해정도가 낮은 부모에게는 연구원이 수화로 질문지 문항을 설명한 후 응답을 얻었다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 의사소통 및 언어지도 부담에서는 청각장애인 부모와 자녀간의 의사소통에서 자녀의 수화사용정도가 높아 의사소통에 대한 부담은 적었다. 그러나 청각장애인 부모와 자녀간의 완전한 대화를 이끌어내고, 자녀의 문제를 해결할 수 있는 의미 있는 대화에는 어려움이 있었다. 둘째, 심리사회적 부담에서는 부모 자신의 장애로 인해 자녀양육에 대해 민감한 반응을 보였고, 경제 및 사회활동에 지장을 받는 등 심리사회적인 부담은 높았다. 셋째, 자녀교육부담에서는 문장이해력이 낮은 청각장애인 부모들이 직접 자녀의 학습지도를 하는데 어려움이 있었다. 또한 건청인 교사와의 의사소통으로 인해 자녀양육에 대한 교육부담은 높았다. 넷째, 청각장애인 부모의 낮은 소득이 자녀양육의 경제적 부담을 가중시켰다.
Abstract
The objectives of this study were to seek practical ways to support children rearing of parents with hearing impairments by understanding their problems with rearing their children whose hearing is normal. Parents with hearing impairments have lots of burdens in bringing up and educating their children such as communicating with, teaching language, and coping with psychosocial, financial, and economic affairs. This research targeted at 56 parents who have children whose hearing is normal, whose age is less than 13 and who are living in Gyeongnam province. Those parents were interviewed: For those who can read, a questionaire was used, and for those whose reading was poor, a sign language was used. The results drown from the research were as follows: First, their burden of communicating with their children and teaching them their language was not heavy because they could communicate with their children with their sign language. However, they couldn't understand fully each other because of the language barrier, so they had difficulties with solving their children's specific problems on account of insufficient communication between them. Second, concerning their psychosocial burden, those parents showed sensitive responses to rearing their children. The burden was heavy as they had hardships in their economic and social activities due to their disability. Third, their burden of educating their children showed that those parents who were low in understanding written words had difficulties with teaching their children. Their communication with normal teachers increased their burden of the education of their children. Fourth, the low income of those parents was another element adding to their financial burden of rearing their children.
