중도·중복장애를 가지고 있는 학생들은 그들 장애의 특성에 의하여 일반적 수준의 건강관리가 필요한 학생들에 비하여 좀 더 복잡하고 전문화된 건강관리 서비스 요구를 가지고 있다. 그러한 서비스 요구들은 일상적인 것일 수가 있기 때문에 학교의 의료지원 전문인력 뿐만 아니라 학급 교사에게 일정 수준의 서비스를 제공할 필요가 생기게 된다. 특히, 장애 관련 의료 및 건강 전문가가 부족할 수 있는 통합교육 현장을 감안한다면 학교 및 학급 차원의 중도·중복 장애학생, 그리고 특별한 건강관리의 요구를 지니는 학생들에 대한 서비스 요구에의 부응은 학생 교육권 보장의 측면과 더불어 교육 실제의 중요 요소로 간주되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 통합교육 현장을 중심으로 하여 특수교육 현장에서 중도·중복 장애 학생들에게 필요한 건강관리 서비스 제공을 위한 학교 지원체계를 논의하고자 한다. 이러한 논의는 구체적인 학교지원 체계와 더불어 현직 및 예비 특수교육 교사들의 필수 소양, 그리고 건강관리 지원서비스 제공에 있어서의 쟁점들에 대한 시사점을 제공할 것이다.
Abstract
Students who have severe or multiple disabilities often require more extensive and complex health care in school settings than others due to the nature of their disability condition. Further, their health care service needs have school medical staff and classroom teachers provide them with related services. Providing related health care service should be regarded as a vehicle to guarantee the educational rights of students with such needs as well as a critical practice. The present study, therefore, discuss school health care system for students with severe/multiple disabilities in inclusive schools. The discussion would provide practical suggestions and implications for establishing school-based health care system and for pre-and in-service training for special education teachers as well.
